Alternative High School programs meeting: Wednesday, December 5th

There will be a meeting explaining enrollment to alternative high school programs for all 8th grade students on Wednesday, December 5th from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M.  Information about the Dearborn Center for Math, Science, and Technology (DCMST) and the Early College Program will be presented in the Stout auditorium. All 8th grade students will be attending.

Malak Said, a 6th grader, had this quote about things that drive us to work harder:

“Fear is just another reason to try harder.”

Sure enough, the fear of failure drives us to succeed, just like the fear of Summer School drives some to change their “E”s into “C”s.

Middle School Misfortunes, Then and Now, One Teacher’s Take

Let’s imagine a seventh grader. He’s a quiet kid, polite, with a few friends. Just your ordinary, run-of-the-mill twelve-year-old. We’ll call him Brian. Brian’s halfway through seventh grade and for the first time, he’s starting to wonder where he falls in the social hierarchy at school. He’s thinking about his clothes a little bit, his shoes too. He’s conscious of how others perceive him, but he’s not that conscious of it. Please continue reading…
