2015 Ford Freedom Award Essay Contest

essay-contestFord Motor Company Fund and Community Services and Detroit Newspapers in Education in cooperation with the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History are bringing the 2015 Ford Freedom Award Essay Contest for Grades 4 – 8. The theme is “Technopreneurs: Builders of the Innovative Economy.”

Who:     Students in grades 4 – 8 are encouraged to submit their essays.

Topic:   Think about a challenge you or your classmates face in trying to pursue an education. What mobile app could you think of building that would use the strengths of your classmates, teachers, or larger community to help overcome the challenges?

Date:        All essays must be received no later than Thursday, April 2, 2015.

Prizes:

  • 1st prize: $5,000 Scholarship, Ford Freedom Award medal and certificate of merit for One winner.
  • 2nd prize: $2,500 Scholarship, Ford Freedom Award medal and certificate of merit for One winner.
  • 3rd prize: $1,000 Scholarship, Ford Freedom Award medal and certificate of merit for One winner.
  • Honorable mentions – $250 Scholarship, Ford Freedom Award medals / certificates of merit for Two winners.
