The Dearborn Goodfellows will once again hit the streets to sell their holiday paper on Friday, December 4th through Sunday, December 6th to make sure that “no Dearborn Child goes without a Christmas.”
Many of those who will be out selling the special holiday newspaper are your friends, neighbors, and colleagues. Even our own superintendent Dr. Glenn Maleyko along with Cabinet members will be out on Outer Drive and Cherry Hill on Friday between 11 am and 1 pm. Please mark these dates on your calendar. Dearborn children are important to all of us.
Since 1923, the Goodfellows have made it their mission to take care of needy children in Dearborn and they estimate helping 900 to 1,100 children every year. Many of those children are students in our schools.
During the holiday season, the District works directly with the Goodfellows to provide them with the names of the families that are in need. In return, the Goodfellows provide gift packages of clothing, books, stuffed animals, and toys to boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 11 through our entire city.
In addition, throughout the year, the Goodfellows provide financial support for special emergencies on an individual basis.
