“It is with a heavy heart that I let you know that State Superintendent and former Dearborn Schools Superintendent , Brian Whiston passed away last night. Brian was a champion of public education and friend to us all. He was a great father, husband, grandfather, and a mentor to me personally. He stood for our vision and has a tremendous positive impact on the thousands of students that he served. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Brian and his family during this very difficult time. “
