Dr. Glenn Maleyko posted the following on his blog:
The special education co-teaching model will be an important initiative during the 2016-17 school year. On May 4 and 5 we gave presentations before the principals and assistant principals. Members of the Co-teaching Steering Committee include Nicole West (teacher at Stout), Greg Oke (principal at Stout), Mike Eisseilly (Assistant Principal at Lowrey), Josh Tynan (Special Education Coordinator), Glenda Darin (teacher at DuVall), Kelly Herrick (teacher at Fordson), Jill Chochol, Chris Sipperley, and I (Dr. Glenn Maleyko). The presentation went very well. I know that we have been implementing the model at the secondary level for several years. However, there will be an additional focus on the model during school improvement visits and we will be expanding the model to the upper elementary level in grades 3-5. We will be providing training and support and have hired Anne Benninghof who has published nationally regarding the model and she has worked with Dearborn in the past. She will be visiting our district on May 26. In addition, I have a lot of experience with the model going back to my time as Principal at Salina Intermediate from 2003-2009. I published research on a practitioner level and have given presentations at a local and national level. The implementation of this model may require us to re-think some of our scheduling and might also involve looking at our resources in a different manner. I am very excited that our district already has a great structure in place and now we just have to take the model to the next level. The ELL department and Rose Aldubaily will also monitor what we are doing and Ms. Aldubaily will participate on the steering committee. 2. Maysam Alie-Bazzi, Chris Sipperley, and I (Dr. Glenn Maleyko) gave a presentation at Wayne County RESA before Superintendents, Administrators, and Teachers on May 10. We were asked to present due to our collaborative approach along with our overall leadership with the Danielson Model. Here is a link to that presentation. https://superintendent.dearbornschools.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/1270/2015/08/Evaluation-Training-for-WCRESA-event-May-2016.pptx
