Wow!!! What a great opportunity to secure your kid’s college expenses!!!
Stout Middle School will be participating in a National Geography Bee contest. Grades 6, 7, and 8 will be eligible. The preliminary stage round will include 7 rounds of 35 questions each. The top 10 scorers of all grades will have a final round that will reduce the contestants to only 2. The school’s championship round is in the last week of January, 2016. The champion will receive his medal and will have an online quiz before February 5, 2016 to qualify for the State Bees.
The State Bees will be held on Friday, April 1st, 2016. The costs of transportation and accommodation will be the responsibility of the student. The state champion will receive a medal, cash award, and other prizes, while the 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive cash awards and prizes.
The National Bee will be held on Monday, May 23rd through Wednesday, May 25th. The finals will be televised. Here are the prizes that could secure your college money:
- 1st Place: a $50,000 college scholarship, lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society, $500 in cash, and a prize trip to a national park.
- 2nd Place: a $25,000 college scholarship, and $500 in cash.
- 3rd Place: a $10,000 college scholarship, and $500 in cash.
- Seven Runners-up: $500 in cash for each runner-up.
