Schools Closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 18

MLK with FlagSchools will have a long weekend as the nation recognizes Martin Luther King Jr. Day, on Monday, Jan. 18. Mr. King was an American clergyman and one of the most recognized civil rights leaders who was fatally shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, on Thursday, April 4, 1968, at the age of 39.

Here is an excerpt of his most famous speech, I Have a Dream.

“In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.”
