STAND represents Students Taking a New Direction. It has been a part of Dearborn Public Schools for the last 26 years. With the outstanding effort of the Dearborn Public Schools to put students first and amazing leadership, STAND has become a staple of the community. We have helped students navigate through the social stress and pressure, build confident young leaders, and teach through love and empathy.
We are focused on teaching students how to be confident leaders and how to take on social problems. We will also cover skills needed to be successful students. Students are taught through leading by example, our mentors are hand picked leaders throughout Dearborn Public Schools, and have all achieved at a high level academically and behaviorally. Each mentor has been recommended by a staff member of Dearborn Public Schools and are considered to be the best and the brightest.
Our goal is to continue spreading the message of love and empathy, empowering students, with the hope of strengthening our community. In light of some horrible tragedies and hate around the world our motto this summer will be “STAND Together as One”. We will have an underlying message of leadership and diversity throughout the summer.
