STOUT MIDDLE SCHOOL

If You Break it, You’ll Fix it!

damagedkeybordsStout Middle School, like all of Dearborn Public Schools, has provided the students with many computers and Chromebooks in order to improve their learning experience and prepare them for a future where technology is an essential part of education, business, and employment. Unfortunately, some students do not seem to appreciate this effort or realize that it is a privilege, and so they choose to abuse these devices and use it in an appropriate way, causing extensive damage, especially to the keyboards. This month alone, the school had to pay around $700 to fix these devices. This money could have been spent on other school activities. Based on this, the school administration has decided on the following:

  • Each student in the class will be assigned a specific device.
  • Teachers will check these devices upon giving them to the students and upon receiving them.
  • Teachers will report any damage and write the name of the offending student.
  • The school has the right to hold the student liable for the damage and ask that he/she pays for the repair.

It is unfortunate, but something must be done to stop this irresponsible behavior.
