A Message From the District About the Last Day of School

Please read the message from the District (see below) about the last day of school and the Eid holiday.

Greetings,

The end of the school year is almost here. On Friday, June 6, 2025 students will have a half-day of school for their final day of the year.

We do our best every year working in positive collaboration with the DFT teachers union to negotiate a calendar and predict potential Eid dates. Despite our efforts, it is now predicted that the Eid holiday will occur on that final half-day. We anticipate that some students and staff may not be in school that day in observance of the Eid holiday. If there is low student attendance, then the district will need to consider using a remaining “forgiveness” day. This approach allows us to avoid any fines and remain in compliance with the state requirement for days and hours while also responding to our community’s needs.

By law, the District is not allowed to use a forgiveness day in advance due to the potential of  student attendance below the 75% state required attendance threshold.

For students attending on June 6th, we will be making adjustments as necessary to ensure  proper supervision for all students which may include the consolidation of classes on this half day.

We hope everyone will have a safe and joyful holiday as we wrap up another great year in the Dearborn Public Schools.
