STOUT MIDDLE SCHOOL

Clubs at Stout! Encourage your Children!

We have some great opportunities this year for your children! Please have your child join a club at Stout. Joining clubs in middle school will allow students positive social interactions, build on their academic abilities, and be ready to join clubs when they attend high school, which will also help them earn scholarships for college down the road.

Here are some new clubs that you can encourage your child to join based on their interests. Please have your child email the staff sponsor who is leading the club to get more information.

Math Counts- Mrs. Lisa Klemeston Her email address is klemetl@dearbornschools.org

MathCounts is a Competition for middle school students that starts at the school level.  Stout students will be able to work as a team through January, working through 4 different types of competition parts-a Sprint round focusing on speed and accuracy, a Target round which focuses on problem solving and math reasoning, a Team round, with 4 person teams working together on problem solving, and a Countdown round which again focuses on speed and accuracy. Teams practice once a week in school through January, when the students will go through each of the 4 rounds formally, which will select the team to represent Stout at the Chapter competition in February.   Team practices will be in person on Wednesdays in H8.  Weekly challenge questions will be posted twice a week through a Schoology group.  Team members will be expected to check Schoology at least twice a week for practice purposes and to prepare for the team meetings each Wednesday.  Wednesday practices will be from 3:30-4:30.  Practice will begin on November 3.
