Below is a message from the District regarding no school on Wednesday:
Greetings,
Due to the forecasted temperatures and heat index of over 105 degrees, all Dearborn Public Schools will be closed on June 15, 2022. All staff and students will not attend on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.
Although Thursday temperatures are also forecasted to be in the 90’s, the heat index on that day is forecasted to not be as severe. Several Dearborn Public Schools are air conditioned throughout the building and those that are not do have at least one common area with air conditioning.
There is a good possibility for similar temperatures during the upcoming summer school program. That program is voluntary, involves a much smaller number of students, is running on an abbreviated schedule (Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.), and all schools have at least one space in the building that is air conditioned allowing students some relief during the school day if temperatures were to reach extreme levels. Parents also have the option to keep their child home if they feel that is in the best interest of their child.
It is not uncommon in Michigan to have summer temperatures reach into the 90 degree range. It’s important to stay hydrated and limit activity during the mid day hours during these periods of high temperatures.
Be safe
