There will be no summer program on Friday, July 4. Happy Fourth of July, Please be safe during all fireworks activities.
Week 2 in the Stout Summer Program was Extra- roar-dinary as “Dinosaur Week and the Mesozoic Era” was our theme this week.
From learning about fossils, changes in the Earth during the different eras, to reading and writing about T-Rex, constructing STEM dinosaur models using engineering skills, our students had a dino-mite time exploring the prehistoric world. They dug deep into the world of paleontology, sharpened their critical thinking, and had tons of fun in the process. Check out these snapshots of learning, laughter, and a little bit of Jurassic magic! Click here to view the awesome pictures from last week.
A Taste of What’s Ahead Next Week: Cooking, Food Fun, and the Culinary Arts:
Next week, the theme of our summer program will take students on a delicious journey into the world of cooking and culinary creativity!
Students will get hands-on experience making apple nachos in partnership with the district’s food service company, learn food preparation techniques, and explore healthy eating habits. The excitement will heat up during a school-wide cook-off led by the amazing Zee the Cook, where students will put their skills to the test in a fun and friendly competition. From chopping to creating, tasting to teamwork, it’s going to be a flavorful week full of learning and inspiration about the culinary arts as a creative and exciting career path!
We like to integrate student suggestions into our program. One great idea a student shared was having students cook a family favorite dish at home while recording it. Students will then share that video with their morning class and possibly share their dish for their classmates to taste. This is optional but I love bringing in the personal family touch to our students’ learning experience.
Also, if students wear a cooking apron and/or chef hat from home to school, they will earn a treat from Mrs. Abdelbaki. Let’s play up this week’s theme, make some more great summer memories and have lots of fun!
