Students will have a great opportunity to sign up to attend“Dissection Week” and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Week led by Wayne State University here in our Stout Afterschool STEM Program next week. Click here to sign your child up for the sessions.
Parents must either print out the permission slip in the link above and return to the main office with their child OR pick up a permission slip from the office. Permission slips are mandatory for students to participate in these sessions.
- Students will dissect sheep brains, hearts, and eyes as they talk about the biology of these organs.
- The following week, students will be immersed in Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) forensic science studies as they learn how DNA helps solve crimes. They will be able to sign up for sessions on fingerprints and DNA, blood simulation activities, hair analysis and DNA and blood splatter.
- Only 30 students can attend each session. These experiences are meant to excite students about learning the sciences and introduce the STEM careers involved with these studies.
This is an exciting learning opportunity, especially for students thinking about entering the science careers in their future.
