THINGS TO DO IN DEARBORN

In 1786, French farmers arrived and established the first homesteads. The city is famous for being the hometown of Henry Ford who created the Ford Motor Company in 1917. Today, the community is a well-mixed blend of industry and businesses along with entertaining venues and scenic locations.

Popular Dearborn attractions include the Automotive Hall of Fame, the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation and the Ford-Wyoming Drive-in Theatre.

Things To Do

  • Throughout the summer, Dearborn residents get out and enjoy the weather during the Friday Nights Music & Foodie Rallies. On the last Friday of each month, the community is invited to venture downtown to enjoy the foods offered by food trucks and local restaurants. There is also a beer garden, corn hole games and children’s activities.
  • Beginning in July, on Wednesday nights, all are welcome to attend the Jazz on the Ave concert series in City Hall Park. Different artists perform live each week. There are also refreshment vendors on-site.
  • On the first weekend in August, the community hosts the annual Dearborn’s Homecoming Festival. All arrive at Ford Field Park for carnival rides, friendly contests, family-friendly games, high school reunions and fair foods. Celebrity guests provide live entertainment. In the evening, the sky lights up with fireworks.
  • Automotive enthusiasts make a point of attending the Henry Ford Old Car Festival in September. Greenfield Village becomes filled with hundreds of antique cars dating from 1890 to 1932. Drivers have the chance to display their skills, and spectators watch the quick assembly of a Model T. Experts offer discussions and on Saturday there is a Gaslight Tour. An orchestra plays period music throughout the event.
  • Beginning in the middle of November, Dearborn residents are invited to see the Festival of Trees at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. All enjoy the array of professionally decorated trees, which come in all sizes. Other decorations include centerpieces, stockings, wreaths and unique ornaments. A holiday gift shop offers a variety of seasonal decor items.
