Ryann Khanafer shared her advice to us:

“Fear has two meanings: forget everything and run, or face everything and rise. The choice is yours!”

We need to face our problems and deal with it!

Know Your Classmates Day at Stout: Friday, Oct. 20, 2017

We’ve been working really hard to improve the overall building climate at Stout for both students and staff by focusing on building empathy, reducing social isolation, and eliminating bullying. The lessons and activities in our weekly Advisory meeting have helped to create awareness among students and staff and have helped to begin a dialogue about the role we all play in making positive changes a reality.

On Friday, October 20, 2017, Stout will participate with 2,000 schools nationwide in “Know Your Classmates” day. We are honored that Beyond Differences, the organization behind “Know Your Classmates” day, and several other guests will be visiting Stout to see our students in action.  Beyond Differences will share the important work we have been doing here at Stout via news conference on Friday.

We are proud of the work that Stout is accomplishing and glad we have such a great opportunity to share our success. Watch for us as we make such positive news and visit:

Ali Jammoul wanted to share this wise quote with all of our students, staff, and parents.

“The only limits in your life are the ones you create with your mind!”

Yet, many times, limits are necessary!

Getting to Know One Another

In its effort to strengthen community ties among students, and in preparation for Friday’s, Oct. 20, “Know Your Classmates Day“, students and staff in their FIRST HOUR CLASSES will be asked to respond to a different question each day TUESDAY through THURSDAY. Responses will be written on labels and worn throughout the day.

Beginning Tuesday, either at the start or at the end of FIRST HOUR CLASS, teachers will display the question for that day. It will take approximately 5-7 minutes to complete the task each day. Students should write in either pen or marker so that the response can be easily read.

As students pass in the hallways or enter their classes each hour, teachers will take a moment to comment or discuss what the students have written, share their responses, and encourage students to begin discussions with other students and staff on their own.

To better understand the school’s effort, Click Getting to Know One Another  to download Mrs. Marla Wiacek presentation.

Ghayth Algalham Wins the Quote of the week

It was a very close choice as all the other quotes were good and meaningful, but Ghayth Algalham won the Quote of the week for these inspiring words:

“There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs!”

Ghayth will get his choice of za’atar, cheese, meat, or spinach pie delivered to his classroom.
